Karen Rubenstein is La Fuente’s Clinical Director and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 43747) with a specialization in co-occurring disorders (substance abuse and mental illness or disorders). She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge and her Masters of Arts degree in Psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute.

Karen held the position of Clinical Director for one the most prestigious adolescent dual-diagnosis treatment centers nationwide. As the Clinical Director, Karen managed the clinical team providing adolescents and their families' the necessary tools to effectively address mental health and substance abuse issues. Karen worked compassionately with staff, clients, and their families to foster a healing environment.

Karen’s work as a therapist also included working with youth and families in a vast range of populations: direct care for youth in Los Angeles Unified School District, Haven Hills, a non-profit women and families domestic violence shelter, Bridges gang intervention youth programs, Camp David Gonzales, a LA County juvenile detention probation camp and California Family Counseling Center. Karen also has a successful private practice in Sherman Oaks.

Prior to her work as a Therapist, Karen was a Vice President and Operations Department Head at one of the nation’s largest savings and loans. Her responsibilities ranged from managing the day-to-day operations of savings branches to establishing policies and pricing for nationwide residential lending.
